Why is this an important update to the Hurricane 11?
We've taken what's worked for runners on previous Hurricane's and improved upon it. We filled in the midfoot to give more cushioning for midfoot strikers, along with a smoother transition throughout the gait cycle. We've also given our stability runners a more performance fit and a faster look.
How many rounds did you go through to get the design to its final form?
A lot. We would make changes on the fly according to runners' feedback on how the Hurricane 11 was performing.
The Hurricane is an evolutionary shoe. If you had to come up with a name for the part of the Hurricane's evolution, what would you call it?
The 12 is a very important step in the franchise's evolution. It's an aesthic makeover with dramatic improvements in the fit of the shoe. It's kind of a big deal.
How do you get your creative juices flowing when you are feeling flat?
I'll go surfing. If the surf is flat, I'll watch videos, read magazines, or browse that internet thing.
What food inspires you most when designing shoes?
All of the foods that runners can't eat when they're training. Hahaaaaaa!
